The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the statutory body and a national-level council for technical education, under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. Established in November 1945 first as an advisory body and later on in 1987 given statutory status by an Act of Parliament, AICTE is responsible for proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education and management education system in India. The AICTE accredits postgraduate and graduate programs under specific categories at Indian institutions as per its charter.
It is assisted by 10 Statutory Boards of Studies, namely, Under Graduate Studies in Engineering & Technology, Post Graduate and Research in Engineering and Technology, Management Studies, Vocational Education, Technical Education, Pharmaceutical Education, Architecture, Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Information Technology, Town and Country Planning.
AICTE is vested with statutory authority for planning, formulation and maintenance of norms and standards, quality assurance through school accreditation, funding in priority areas, monitoring and evaluation, maintaining parity of certification and awards and ensuring coordinated and integrated development and management of technical education in the country as part of the AICTE Act No. 52 of 1987.
The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) came into existence on 20th May, 1988 through an Act (No. 16 of 1988) of the State Legislature to advise the Government in matters relating to Higher Education in the State and to oversee its development with perspective planning and for matters connected therewith.
The Telangana State Council of Higher Education, the first of its kind in the Country, set up as per the recommendations of the National Education Policy 1986, is primarily a coordinating and liaison body between the University Grants Commission, the State Government and the Universities.
It is the general duty of the Council to coordinate and determine standards in institutions of Higher Education or Research and Scientific and Technical Institutions in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission from time to time. Hence, the APSCHE Act envisages the following three distinct functions.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU Hyderabad) is a university, primarily focused on engineering, located in Hyderabad, India. Founded in 1965 as the Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College, it was established as a university in 1972.
The university is situated in the heart of the city at Kukatpally. It has ‘A’ grade accreditation by the (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) NAAC.
This university is consisting of the constituent and affiliated colleges. The main officers and councils of the university are Chancellor, Vice-chancellor, Rector, Executive council and Academic Senate. The Governor of Telangana is the Chancellor of the university.
The National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India was established by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) as an autonomous body under section 10(u) of AICTE act, 1987 for periodic evaluations of technical institutions & programmes basis according to specified norms and standards as recommended by AICTE council. It has the full authority to recognise or derecognise institutions and programmes under them. It is the only authorized body in India entrusted with the task of undertaking accreditation of technical education programmes.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an organization that assesses and accredits institutions of higher education in India. It is an autonomous body funded by University Grants Commission of Government of India headquartered in Bangalore.
NAAC was established in 1994 in response to recommendations of National Policy in Education (1986). This policy was to "address the issues of deterioration in quality of education", and the Plan of Action (POA-1992) laid out strategic plans for the policies including the establishment of an independent national accreditation body.
