Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 2001 with an intake of 40 students , in 2002 the intake has increased to 60 students and in the year 2009 intake has increased to 120 students. The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is NBA Accredited and the institution has accreditated by NAAC and certified by ISO. The Department offers 4 years B.Tech Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
The Department has a separate building state-of-art laboratories with latest equipment, advanced versions of software and demo units. The laboratories are developed in consultation with the Industry and Academic experts to provide industrial environment along with the University curriculum. The department has rich experienced and dedicated faculty with the background of Industry, Teaching and Research. The faculty is specialized in the areas of Power Electronics, Power Systems, Energy Systems, Instrumentation and Control Systems to provide excellent knowledge in the core subjects. In addition to these labs Solar Power Applications Lab & AICTE IDEA labs are established to inculcate the recent trends in electrical engineering into student’s mind. The department was funded by AICTE in the scheme of MODROBS of Rs. Six Lakhs
The Department organizes regularly Faculty Development Programmes, Seminars, Industrial visits and Expert lectures from Industry and Research Institutions to mould enthusiastic students into excellent engineers, while exposure to the latest technologies fosters the creativity and independent thinking of students.

Electrical Engineers are needed in all manufacturing units, all major companies of public and private sector such as Electricity Boards, Large Scale Industries, Manufacturing Plants, Power Corporations, Hydro-Electricity sector are continuously in need of Electrical Engineers for their projects. Electrical Engineers also find job prospects in Design Industries, Production plants, Natural gas plants, Petroleum as well as in steel and chemical plants. Many premier Educational and Research Institutions regularly intake electrical engineers as graduate Engineer trainees and Management Trainees to work on research projects.
Electrical Engineers can also get a job in Major players in Public Sector such as Indian Railways, Armed forces (Technical Branch) and also in Thermal and Nuclear power Corporation Limited.
Placement and Pay scale of Electrical Engineers
Electrical Engineers are required in large number for power sector and industries. They are also absorbed by software industries. Indian Government is encouraging the private sector participation in the power generation as the country needs thousands of megawatt power. Only few engineers are opting for higher studies those who are interested in teaching and research.
Fresh Graduates salaries are between Rs. 15,000/- to Rs.30, 000/- per month in the private sector and upto 40,000 in the government sector. The salaries of these core engineers increases tremendously with experience.

Dr.Y.V.Balarama Krishna Rao is working as a professor & Head of the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering in Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad. He has an experience of 25 years in teaching and research. He graduated B.E in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Andhra University College of Engineering, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. He obtained his M.Tech in the stream of Electrical Power Systems from JNTU College of Engineering, JNTU, Ananthapur. He was awarded Doctorate for “Optimal Location and Sizing of FACTS devices to improve system performance using a Meta Heuristic Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm” from JNTU, Kakinada. He is a life member in professional bodies ISTE & IAENG. He had published more than 30 research papers in various National and International journals/ conference proceedings. He has guided many students for their projects under UG and PG programmes. One research scholar is pursuing PhD under his supervision Titled “Incorporation Of Renewable Energy Sources Into Green Building Design Using Data Analytics Results For Efficiency Improvement". He attended and conducted many seminars, symposiums and workshops. He had been appointed as the convener & Coordinator for Various Faculty Development Programs and delivered lectures as resource person. He had given guest lectures in various reputed engineering colleges on current trends. He had organized industrial visits to improve practical knowledge among students. He had completed Four NPTEL courses under computer science Engineering department in thrust areas Introduction to Internet of things, Introduction to Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things , Python for Data Science and Blockchain and its applications successfully with elite gold and silver certifications. He had obtained 5 Indian patents for his work on recent developments in Electrical Engineering. He had authored a book titled “High voltage Engineering”. His areas of interest include Power Systems, Electrical machines and High voltage Engineering. He is acting as BOS member in reputed Engineering colleges. He had obtained seminar grant from Govt of India, department of Science and Technology under Science and Engineering Research Board for conducting five day seminar on “AI Strategies for Next Generation Smart Grid Infrastructure”.
